Many years in the making and after Steven Universe's conclusion, here are the chronicles of Lapis Lazuli's arc throughout the entire series.
lyrics
I. LAPIS LAZULI/WAILING STONE
She was trapped in a mirror and it couldn't be clearer,
She wanted to leave this place and get herself back to space,
And dad, you might think she's a criminal,
But her friendship comes through subliminal,
Lapis Lazuli, you fled into the bottom of the sea,
Lapis Lazuli, you were so mad but then you came around to me,
I could have tamed you, I could have shown
That I could depose you from your loud throne
But in the end, I wasn't good enough
I just showed the gems that I ain't got the stuff
Oh-oh, Wailing Stone!
I tried so hard to fly, but I was thrown
Oh-oh, Wailing Stone!
I gotta tell the gems 'cause they should know
Have a little, have a little, have a little faith in me!
I just wanted to help. You know, I
Have a little, have a little, have a little expertise!
I know it's not much
But if it could come in handy, I'd wanna be there
I think so highly of you, it just isn't fair
That you have such little faith
Lapis Lazuli, you fled into the bottom of the sea,
Lapis Lazuli, you were so mad but then you came around to me,
II. I AM LAPIS LAZULI
[All they care about is the Earth, but I never believed in this place...]
[You... you three knew I was in there, and you didn't do anything!]
[Did you even wonder who I used to be?]
[I'm Lapis Lazuli, and you can't keep me trapped here any more!]
Stuck here and it feels like eternity,
Look deep like your image is a part of me,
Blue gem like my name Lapis Lazuli,
Watch me drag a captor down, bottom of the sea,
Take me home while I kill a four-seater,
Addicted to power like my name is Vegeta,
Doped up when I woke up, thousand years,
I can feel the hate while my plea falls on deaf ears,
No, drag me down, take me home,
I never ever wanna feel this way again,
Now, drag me down, take me home,
I can't take it, just leave me be
III. HER WORLD
[It was thousands of years ago...]
[I was only meant to visit for a short time, but I got caught...]
[I was picked up by a Homeworld soldier and confused for a Crystal Gem]
[They'd ask me "show us your base", "where is your leader?" I didn't know, and I couldn't say I'm not one of them!]
[It soon became clear that there was no hope in stopping the rebellion]
[All of the Homeworld gems fled, in all the panic of escaping Earth, I was left behind]
[And there I stayed, freedom in my sight but out of reach for ages]
[Until I was found...]
IV. THAT DISTANT SHORE
It all became so lovely,
Those bluest skies above me,
Those funny feelings I had never felt before I met you,
I thought I'd stay a while,
I tried to learn to smile,
So many colors I had never even known,
Maybe I'll find myself sitting on that distant shore,
Maybe I'm not alone,
Then I see the colors fading,
Gentleness of light escaping,
Shadows of my fear invading,
Have I seen this all before?
I know that there's something residing,
A terror deep inside me,
I couldn't understand how you could be so bold,
Maybe I'll find myself smiling on that distant shore,
Maybe I'm not alone
V. SHINING THROUGH
Ooh, why so blue?
So many shades of sorrow got mixed into my hue
And each new moment just astounds me
So much I wanna do!
I finally feel my colors shining through!
I'm tired of the fighting
I'm tired of the blame
That mirror was a prison
And fusion was the same!
What's with these new sensations
That suddenly appear?
Deep as the roaring ocean
Free as the atmosphere!
Lapis Lazuli, you fled into the bottom of the sea,
Then you came back to me in my hour of need,
In this place you now call home,
Where you can sit there smiling on that distant shore,
Know that you're not alone
Now you listen to me, and you listen close, okay?
I need you to know that there's a place for you in this world, no matter who you are,
The trauma and heartaches you felt are all in the past and can no longer define you,
The future is now, and we need you more than you can understand,
No one can fill the void if you left us now!
So for one last time, I need you to answer just one last very simple question,
I need you to tell me...
Ooh, why so blue?
So many different reasons, but are they really true?
I wanna keep on going, wanna be right there with you
I'd love to see your colors shining through
I'd love to see your colors shining through
